Sylvanus was a prominent and wealthy man. He served as a lieutenant in the Revolution. His will dated April 11, 1809 mentions his wife Mary; children: Sylvanus collins, Benjamin, Gaylord, Haravey, William and Erastus; Esther, wife of Juda Pinney, Susanna Fox and Hannah Pomeroy. 5
