ancestry
Royal Descents of 500 Immigrants says although proof of George Ward's (Thomasine's father) parentage is lacking, it is "highly probable from naming patterns and chronology alone," Thomasine (Ward) Thompson Buffam
is probably a descendant of Henry II, King of England, d. 1189 through his illegitimate som, William Longespee, Earl of Salisbury. (See Gary Boyd Robert's Noteable Kin #52)
notes
In her brother's will of 1666, recorded in the Archdeaconry of Norfolk County, England, Jeffrey Ward of Great Yarmouth left "£100 to Thomosin Buffam, my sister, now or late the wife of Robert Buffam in New England."
The first Quaker meeting in New England was held at the home of Joshua Buffum, Robert and Tamoson's oldest son. (1647?) During the next 30 years or so Tamoson and her son Joshua were chastised many times for attending Quaker meetings and for absenting themselves from public worship. Robert Buffum seems not to have been as enthusiastic about the Quaker religion, as his name is not mentioned along with his wife's.
Tamoson and her son Joshua seem to have been "free spirits," for in 1680 they along with some others were admonished by the Society of Friends (Quakers) also, for "disorderly walking....We left them very stubborn and ofjectionable, refusing to give plain answers..."
Also spelled as Tamazen or Tamoson Ward.
