1790 Census of SC-several, Woody, families. On p. 68: Talton Woody, l free white male over 16, 6 males under 16, 3 females. 96 District, Greenville Co.

Lived; NC. SC. TN. KY. NC.,

Reported as being the only member of the family to remain a Quaker in Rev. War period.

Took the Oath of Allegiance in Carolinas in 1776.

Reared his family in TN. and Ky. Descendents lived near Athens, Tenn. (McMinn Co.) in 1870s.

Believed to be buried on farm in Ashe Cty NC in a cemetery now lost with no marker.

Children were; Elizabeth, Jane, Jonathan, Naaman, Sarah, William, Talton, James, Loggins, Theophalus Jackson.

After Prayer proceeded to business Took up reference against Talton, Woody, and Mary Greene, after hearing the evidence they were excluded from the church. NOTES from J Woodie I also have a court case copied from the web in Ashe County named Black Vs Black & Poe that seems to be another Tarlton Woody that married a Molly. This also brings in the Barr Family that I have seen connections with the Woody family before.

I had a lady to inform me just a few weeks ago that Tarlton Woody was the father of John "Bear" Woody, she had discovered the info on Talton in Ashe NC.

This is information that I had been looking for a long time. John Bear Woody is not listed as a child, at least not that I have found yet. John Bear Woody and his wife Sarah are the parents of Tobias that was born in 1849. This Tobias married Mary E. Dockery.
