Overview
François-Louis de Pourroy de Lauberivière was the 5th bishop of Québec. He was ordained in 1735 at the Jesuit college in Grenoble France. In March 1739 he was appointed bishop of Québec. He sailed for Québec. A fever broke out on board their ship en route and quickly spread through the ship. Bishop de Pourroy de Lauberivière provided assistance where needed. He survived the journey and arrived at Québec only to fall ill and die on 20 August 1740. In such a short time as Bishop, he was well liked and gained a reputation for virtue.
