Judge Goodwin's, Goodwins In America, stops short of assigning a father for Theophilus Goodwin, Sr and his brother John Goodwin. That was subtle. Nowadays, we have male to male direct on back for men and ther fathers. This Theophilus' ydna is Azore Islander group on the male side as the I A 2 Haplogroup - poimts to Matthew Goodwin and a Nansemond area mother. Same group as Shadrack Collins. They picked up native wives as the area where they lived was known to be Nottoway Cheraw lands.

There were four Theophilus Goodwins on census records by the 1790 time period, all were different people. This one was mentioned in his father in law's will, George Wyche, Sr whose will was recorded Oct 5, 1753 mentioning land in both Surry and in Brunswick Co, Va. This same Theophilus made his deed of gift to 4 sons on Dec 6, 1757 and named them as Thomas, John, Henry, and Theophilus, Jr. Source: Judge Goodwin's Book called The Goodwin Families In America by Judge John S. Goodwin.. Theophilus and his wife Ann recorded their sale of their Shocco Creek land for 50 pounds at Peter Hill's Branch on the 2nd of June in 1773. They sold 173 acres on the south side a year earlier than the 200 acres that they sold in 1773.
