About Thomas Babb, II
Thomas Babb, Jr. married Sarah Foulk, daughter of William and Elizabeth Cope Foulk of Bethel Township, Chester County, PA, on June 26, 1729, at Holy Trinity (Old Swedes) Church, Wilmington, DE, under a Governor's license. They first moved to Bethel Township where Thomas had purchased land. In November 1735 Thomas. Sr. received a Patent for 600 acres on Applepie Ridge in Frederick County, VA, near Winchester. The Patent required Thomas, Sr. to occupy the land, clear and cultivate three acres of every fifty and make certain yearly payments to an agent of the king. Thomas, Jr. and brother Philip moved onto the land to fulfill the requirements.
Thomas was one of the founders of Hopewell MM, near Winchester, VA.
Thomas' son Stephen wrote a will dated June 17, 1760, which names his father, Thomas, as Executor. Thomas wrote a will dated September 22, 1760, which does not mentioned his son Stephen. Stephen's will was probated on October 7, 1760, and the court records state that the designated Executor was already dead. It would appear that both were alive on June 17, 1760, but Stephen had died before September 22, 1760, when his father made his will and that father Thomas died between September 22 when he wrote his will and October 7 when Stephen's will was probated. Neither will mentioned Sarah so she must have died prior to June 17, 1760.Source: Broderbund WFT2, #216.
