About Thomas Bland
Thomas Bland was the son of Adam Bland, Skinner to the Queen, and wife Joane Atkyns. He was born in 1558 in London, England and died in 1617. He may have married as many as three times. He was an attorney.
The record has been found for the marriage of Thomas Bland and Elizabeth Yardley. They were married December 22, 1586 at Saint Mildred Poultry With Saint Mary Colechurch, London, London, England.
Thomas is believed to have married Mary Catcher, widow of Thomas Moody, but a marriage record has not been found. Mary was the daughter of John Catcher and Ellen Southwick. They had two children, George and Elizabeth. Based on George's birth date of 1598, Thomas wed Mary c.1597-98.
The Bland Heritage Organization states he "perhaps" also married Alice Germain. Whether this was before Elizabeth or after Mary is not known. It is not known if there were children of this marriage.
Children of Thomas Bland and Mary Catcher:
- George Bland, born 1598 in St. Antholin Budge Row, London, Middlesex, England. Buried June 10, 1648, St. Gregory by St. Paul, London, Middlesex, England
- Elizabeth Bland, born 1601 in St. Antholin Budge Row, London, Middlesex, England. She married Edward Holmwood.
