Thomas Brooks, was a well-known scout and Indian fighter. His family was from Fauquier County, Virginia. He went to Kentucky in the early days of its settlement, and with Daniel Boone, Jacob Boone and others laid out the town of Limestone* (now Maysville), where he lived until his death. He served three years as a private in the Virginia Continental Line, for which he received a grant of land, (e) In Mason County, Kentucky. are records of land transfers signed by Thomas Brooks and Sarah Boone Brooks in 1791.
