THOMAS2 COCKE (WILLIAM1) was born March 17872, and died 1861. He married (1) HARRIET HEARLE October 27, 1829 in Jefferson Co., TN2. She was born Unknown2, and died Bef. September 1847. He married (2) LUCINDA CREED3 September 25, 1847 in Hawkins Co., TN3. She was born ABT 18054, and died 1878.

Notes for THOMAS COCKE:

   It is important to note here that there are many errors contained in Octavia Bond's "Family Chronicle and Kinship Book" in her accounting of Thomas Cocke's descendants on page 455.  Unfortunately, her errors have proliferated, so with the following, I offer a corrected version.  Specifically, Bond says that Walter Karr married Lizzie Read, daughter of Mary (Cocke) Read (see #15 below), and that their daughter Lucy married Briscoe Thompson of Russellville; however, this is not accurate.  Walter Karr married Ettie Meek, daughter of Lucy (Moore) Meek (see #26 below), who in turn was the daughter of Narcisse Marjianna (Cocke) Moore.  It was Walter and Ettie's daughter Lucy who married Briscoe Thomason (note the spelling difference) of Russellville, Hamblen Co., TN.  -- Carole Thomason
