Biography ==Thomas the son of Thomas Gilbert was born in Springfield, Massachusetts on 15 Mar 1658.≤ref>"Massachusetts, Springfield Vital Records, 1638-1887," database with images, FamilySearch (https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:XPJF-3JW : 9 February 2018), Thomas Gilbert, 15 Mar 1658;citing , Springfield, Hampden, Massachusetts, Springfield City Hall; FHL microfilm 185,414.Thomas Gilbert, the son of Thomas Gilbert and Catherine Chapin was living in Springfield, Massachusetts by 1680, when he married Abilene Marshfield.≤/ref>

After the death of his first wife in 1689, Thomas remarried, in 1690, to Anna Bancroft.
Thomas moved to Brookfield, Massachusetts with his brother, Henry. "Capt. Henry Gilbert was sent to Ouobaug (Brookfield) to protect the settlers from the Indians, and built a fort there, afterwards settling there with his brother Thomas Gilbert {III}."≤ref>Randalland allied families, page 322≤/ref>

Thomas died in 1698.
