He was descended from Mayflower passenger William Brewster through his mother (Mercy Mayo5, Thomas Mayo4, Hannah Prence3, Patience Brewster2, William Brewster1)[1]

On June 7, 1733, he married Bethia Eldredge, the daughter of Nathaniel Eldredge and Sarah Conant[3] [4] [5]

Children included:

  2. Thomas, born circa 1736, also served in the colonial military, but died before 1763. The grandson Thomas Godfrey mentioned in the will was likely his son[5]

On March 8, 1753, he married Mary (Chase) Covell, the daughter of Isaac Chase and Mary Berry of Yarmouth, Massachusetts, and widow of Nathaniel Covell[8] [5]. No children are noted in these sources.

Thomas Godfrey died before his will was proved April 1778[6] [5] His will notes his widow Mary and the children noted here. He also noted a grandson Thomas Godfrey and his brothers Jeptha and Jonathan[6] [5]
