"

- mentions property which was formerly part of Founthill Farm, Newpond field and Tile House farm. (Identical entires at http://discovery.nationalarchives.gov.uk/details/r/a697844a-5389-49... and http://www.thekeep.info/collections/getrecord/GB179_AMS3163_7_3187 )

Tile House Farm is mentioned in various wills in the Siffleet family, some years earlier. It can be seen here: https://goo.gl/maps/RTawtjjmL7R2

It looks as if Thomas might be getting deeper into debt, possibly related to the fire the year before.

1841 Census (see under Sources) shows the family at Newick Greene, Newick, with children Sarah, Eli, Harriett, Abraham, Frances and Lucy. Shows his age as 42 and Sarah's as 45, but this must be wrong. (Ages are rounded, as per the FS estimates.)

Moses as well as the twins Cornelius and Martha must have died as infants.
It looks as if Thomas and his family have moved into Newick village, perhaps after losing the land owing to not having repaid the debt?

Note the contrast in the fortunes of Thomas compared with his brother Edward, who has acquired some of the Siffleets' properties, whilst Thomas appears to have sunk into greater debt, and with a much larger family to support.
Perhaps this was the impetus for sons Edwin and Stephen to migrate and seek their fortunes at the Cape?
