About Thomas Elias Hinton
Thomas was born in Colerain Twp, Ross County Ohio. He was the oldest son of Elias and Susannah (Cox) Hinton. On October 10, 1839, he and (Mary) Elizabeth DeLong were married in Ross County. Between 1850 and 1860, Thomas and Elizabeth moved to Mercer County, near Celina, Ohio. Thomas entered the Union Army on October 8, 1862 and served with Company I, Ohio 56th Infantry Regiment and mustered out on 08 Jul 1863 at Vicksburg, MS. Elizabeth and Thomas had seven children: Jacob, Henry, Elias, Leanna, Franklin, Wilson, and Elizabeth Mary.
