He Married secondly, Amy Webster from Kohu Kohu, Hokianga, New Zealand
Thomas Mahon Minchin emigrated with his parents to New Zealand arriving on 1852.and lived at Broadwood, Hokianga, New Zealand.
Was seen as a very stern man but kind. He had a long beard. At nights he would lie in bed with a candle nestled in his beard, reading, and of course on one occasion the inevitable happened. He drifted off to sleep and the candle fell into his beard. Fortunately his wife (second) was there and put the fire out!
