Biography Amelia Christiana Minchin was born on 25 December 1824, along with her twin sister Rebecca. She was the daughter of Reverend William Minchin and Mary Anne Wright. She married John Alexander Corrie Boswell.

Amelia & her twin sister were both very pretty, known as the "toast of Tipperary" - Edward C Minchin's granddaughter Rebe Minchin of Busherstown wrote - "Some of the sisters at Greenhills were so remarkable handsome they were county toasts and Aunt Amelia had a perfectly exquisite face. In hot summer weather the sisters used to walk under the trees in the avenue wearing veils to protect their complexions."

Their great ambition was to go out to India, which both did later on. When Rebecca's new husband was posted to India, Amelia went too. On her first night there she met John Alexander Corrie Boswell and so ensued a whirlwind romance. This union linked Greenhills Minchin with yet another notable British family.

In their first four years of marriage they had 3 children; Henry St George, John and William. The family moved back to Ireland because of John's ill health. Their fourth child Hector was born there.

In 1863 John and Amelia decided to return to India, leaving their four children (aged 3-6) with a cousin at Southgate. Tragically all four children contracted diptheria in 1867 while their parents were absent, and Hector died. At the same time John was battling health problems and after struggling with the climate and a heavy workload for 6 years, they again returned to England in 1871. Within a few weeks John was dead.

Amelia was heartbroken at the loss of her soulmate and lived for only another 3 years, dying at age 50. She was on holiday in Ireland with her 3 sons at the time.
