About Mary Anne Minchin
Mary Anne Wright eloped with Reverend William Minchin, who was engaged to be married to her sister. In 1816 Mary Anne's father, Corker Wright of Rutland, Shinrone considered her too young to marry as she was only 17 years old at the time. The young lovers rode away to Dublin with her father in pursuit. Hearing his coming close behind them they hid with their mounts under a bridge and heard him ride overhead. They were married in Dublin. Eventually they returned to their home area, and after a few years at nearby 'Myrtle Lodge', they spent their married life at 'Greenhills'.
Templeharry parish register: Burial: Mary Ann Minchin, Green Hills, 27 Sep. 1842, age 45.
