- "The Sharps came from Evesham Township, Burlington Co.,New Jersey (Haddonfield Meetinghouse) to Frederick County...Crooked Run Meeting house by transfer dated 1741. Although it has been thought that Thomas (Sr.) was the son of a Thomas Sharp and Elizabeth Winn and descendended from Thomas Sharp, the immigrant who came to our shores on "ye owners Adventure" in 1681. However, further research into the Sharps of New Jersey seems to NOW point to John Sharp and Elizabeth Paine as the parents of the Thomas that came to Frederick County, Virginia. The difficulty arises in New Jersey records because 2-3 Sharp families were living close to each other, the repetition of the name Thomas and their marriages to women named Elizabeth." [1]
