Thomas Stebbins, Sr

1. Thomas Stebbins, son of Edward Stebbins and Sarah Graves, was born at Springfield, Mass. March 7, 1687 and died there Dec. 4,1758. He married March 1, 1711, Mary Ely.

2. Thomas Stebbins and Mary Ely married March 1,1710-11.

3. Thomas Stebbins' will of 1758, widow Mary, Children; Caleb, Thomas, Moses, Mary and Ruth.

4. Thomas Stebbins died Dec. 14, 1758 age 72 years. Mary Ely, his wife, died April 9, 1770 age 80 years.

5. Thomas Stebbins was a valued man in his community, he was chosen "hayward", constable and surveyor twice. He made an Alphabet of the proprietors book of records and was also assessor and selectman. Mary Ely died April 9, 1770.

6. He was chosen Hayward, March 14,1709/10, and March9, 1713/14, March13, 1710/11, & 1717 he was constable, and in 1714/15 he executed the Law about Swine. Nov. 27,1717 he was paid 2 & 6 for making constable's staff. Nov.8,1728, was voted 6s. for making an alphabet to ye Proprietor's Book of Records, and 3 pounds for draining Town meadow. In 1728 he was Assessor and 1729-1733 Selectman. He was granted 5s. for timber to make stocks 1730 and the next year 4s. for his part in making up acc'tts with the Tres. and served on the same committee the two succeeding years. His will was made 6th day of Nov. in the 38th year of His Majesty's Reign A.D. 1758.
