"Sullivans of Sullivan's Hollow: Cousins, Friends, and Neighbors" Part 1 & 2 By: Granville W. Hough and Maxine (Richardson) Watts page 34 "Some Sullivans who were not familiar with Thomas Sullivan, Sr. as a resident on the early Three Chop Way from Georgia to Tombigbee and on to Southern Mississippi had heard the term "Hog Tom" applied to some Tom Sullivan who was prone to adopt stray pigs or even pigs which could be led astray. They assumed it referred to Tom Sullivan, Jr, but it seems the situation on the Tombigbee was far superior for such activities when families were trying to drive their livestock along the trail from Georgia to Mississippi. If it did indeed refer to Tom, Jr; it probably was a learned activity from his father. In this case it is probable that both Tom, Sr, and Tom Jr, carried the designation of "Hog Tom."
