The will of Thomas Tok of Dover was made Sept. 25, 1484 (date struck out) and proved Dec. 15, 1484. He directs that he be buried in St. Katherine's chapel in the church of St. Mary in Dover. Many pious legacies, including 30, a very large sum, to be distributed among the poor. To Elizabeth and Alice, his daughters, 40s. apiece. To every son and daughter of his daughters, 20s. each. Residue to wife Joan, "whom with Nicholas Foxe I make my executors." To wife Joan, his messuage called Mallyngis. To Alice, his daughter, his garden at Upmarket, and also all his lands at Marton during the life of his wife, after which to Stephen Wyke, son of the said Alice. To Elizabeth, his daughter, the garden next to the cemetery of St. Martin, Dover. The messuage in which John Wyk dwells shall remain to his said daughter Elizabeth and John Wyk, her son, forever, paying yearly to his wife Joan 10s. Residue of all lands and tenements to wife Joan for life, but if she should become necessitous she may sell any part thereof except seven acres at Dugate under Wyndes Downe, which, after the death of Joan, is to remain in the custody of the church of St. Mary towards the repair thereof. [After the death of Joan] the residue of lands and tenements remaining to be sold by his feoffees and the money to be divided into three parts, one to be disposed for the health of his soul, one to his daughters Elizabeth and Alice, and one for the reparation of the church of St. Mary
