Killed in defense of Fort Griswold, September 6, 1781
In the White Hall Ground on Mystic River in the town of Stonington the following inscription:
"In Memory of Mr Thomas Williams who was killd in fourt Griswould Sepr 6th AD 1781 in ye 60 year of his age"
He was killed at the massacre at Groton Heights Sept. 6, 1781. Buried at the Whitehall burial place in Stonington.
