Came to Krstiania in 1860. He was a "vognmann" (wagon man), and this is probably how he met his wife Sofie, as several of her brothers were wagon men.
They took over the farm Brække in 1878. A couple of years later, they bought the farm Hellene (separated from Frogern farm in Bærum). Here they lived till 1894 when they sold the farm and moved to Nordgarden Lindestad in Ås. They stayed there until they bought back the family farm Kjos in 1910, and now all the pars of the farm was united in one.
