THORVALD KNUTSON
Thorvald Knutson, age 89, of Litchville, died Friday afternoon, February 11, 1983 at the Oakes Hospital.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, at the First Lutheran Church in Litcvhille with Rev. Joel Xavier officiating. Interment will be in the St. Thomas Cemetery in the spring.
Pallbearers were Norman Colebank, Gordon Sonsthagen, Roy Erickson, Emil Bjerke, John Dykstra and Orvin Elton.
Thorvald Knutson was born February 28, 1893 in Wisconsin, the son of Kolbjorn and Severena Knutson. He came to North Dakota about 1914. He enlisted in the Army during World War I and served overseas. Following his military service, he returned to North Dakota and farmed near Dwight, before moving to the Litchville area, where he farmed and did some trucking.
On October 25, 1928 he married Helga Andreasen at Litchville. They farmed near Litchville until they retired about 1971 and moved into Litchville. For the last year they have made their home at the Good Samaritan Center in Oakes. He was a member of the Leslie Neumann VFW Post in Litchville.
He is survived by his wife Helga; two sons: Donald and Arlen, both of Litchville; a daughter, Lois (Mrs. Vernon Aase,) Valley City; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
