About Timothy Harding
I got these records from my fathers sister, Mavis Carson (nee Berrington).
Calling South Africa "home" Tim took part in the Kaffir wars of 1852 and 1880. He married Sarah Maude King at St Pauls Church Port Elizabeth on April 26.1859. The rector of the parish was Samuel Brook.
By 1862 he was firmly established in his own smithy at Dordrecht. He was renowned for his wagon building in the area. . Soon after he bought the farm Pilgrims Rest and resided there for twenty seven years.
Timothy Roland Harding was a staunch Freemason - Wodehouse Lodge. Rose to the position of Worshipful Master. Occupied this office three times.
