He married MARY JANE GIFFORD August 21, 1859 in Nunda, Yates Co., New York, daughter of LEVI GIFFORD and JOANNA WILCOX.

Tisdale Amidon Puffer was born May 29, 1829 at Readsboro, Vermont, and died May 3, 1874 aged 44 years. His death was caused by an accident. A large boulder which he was burying fell upon him and crushed him. He moved early in life to North Adams, Massachusetts, and thence to Steuben County, New York. At the age of 20 years, he went to California in 1849, and again at the age of 23 by way of the Isthmus of Panama. In 1859 he made a trip to Pike's Peak, Colorado. He enlisted in September, 1864, in the 189th New York Regiment and was discharged May 31, 1865. He then moved to Michigan and lived 4 years in Bedford Township, Calhoun County, near the City of Battle Creek, afterward moving to a farm in Pennfield in the same county. He was a member of the Methodist Church.
