About Tomasz Mądry Dąbrowski
Winona Daily Republican June 25, 1874:
A workman in Messrs. Laird, Norton, and Co's saw mill named Thomas Mondry was fatally injured this noon. The crews had just been changed at 12 o'clock and the unfortunate man had not been at work over ten minutes when the accident happened. He was employed at the rotary cutting-off saw and it is supposed that he and his assistant must have run a heavy stick of timber against the saw, breaking it off into three large pieces, one of which struck Mondry, lacerating one arm in a frightful manner and inflicting terrible injuries in the lower part of the bowels, pieces of the steel entering his flesh to the depth of three inches. The physicians have no hope of his recovery. The man has a wife and four children living in the lower part of the city."
