Biography

Toralde Toraldesson, på Berg was born circa 1245 in Buskerud, Norway.

Toralde married Ingeborg Gunnarsdatter. Together they had the following children:

• 1289 Salomon Toraldesson, Biskop i Oslo;
• 1295 Gunnar I Toraldesson Kane.

He died circa 1290 in Berg, Tønsberg, Vestfold, Norway.

After reading the debate thread at the National Archives about the Kane family from 2007, I think we need to clean up the tree. There are many uncertainties regarding this family, but what we can be sure of is Nicolaus (Nils) Gunnarsson Kane and Toralde Gunnarsson Kane, III and their father was Gunnar Toraldesson Kane II

In post 21 in the debate I linked over, Vigerust answers whether there is any team in a lineage similar to the one we have on Genius (Sigurd Gunnarson ca. 1340 - 1403 Gunnar Toraldeson approx. 1320 - 1414 Toralde 1 Gunnarson ca. 1300 - 1388 Gunnar Toraldeso ca. 1260 - 1343 Toralde Toraldeson approx. 1220 - 1260 Toralde Kane Brandenburg approx. 1200)

"The names Kurt Østbye refers to are unknown to me. But Gunnar Toraldesson Kanes (known 1398-1414) father (Toralde Gunnarsson, known 1366-69) and * possible * grandfather (Gunnar Toraldesson Hvit) both lived in Norway. Gunnar and Toralde are of Norwegian origin, there is no reason to look for German origin for this family. That the genus Kanitz led the same weapon, as is claimed, is nevertheless something one should draw with in the further research. "

I would also recommend everyone to read throughout the debate. That "our man" Toralde Butter hat belongs to Kane's family devastated otherwise.
