He first settled in the Heidelberg Township, Berks County area, later moving with others to thelowerpartorNorthumberland County.Therecord indicates that Valentine was somewhatof anagitator andwas askedor ordered by the government to leave his native Germany. A paper titled "Emigrants from the Principality of Hessen-Hanau, Germany,1741-1767", hasthefollowingnotationsValentin Rehbock...Punishment of the former miner ValentinRehbockof Bieber,who soughtto cause othersto emigrate.Ref 36, p10. It is thisValentine, son of Andreas and AnnaCatharina, who is the forefather of the Rebucks of lower Northumberland County. Valentine and hisfamily resided forsome years inBerks County.Their son Johann Nicholas was born November 6, 1771 and baptized at Myerstown Tulpehocken Church ofChrist inLebanon County.The notation "from beyondthe Blue Mountains" is noted on the record.On May 11,1773 the originalpatent tosurvey 120acresin PineGrove Township,Berks County(present day Schuylkill County) were granted to Valentine. In 1797 Valentine sold the land to Jacob Reisss who in turn sold it to a Zimmerman. In 1774Valentine waslisted as a marriedtaxable of Augusta Township (later Mahanoy), Northumberland County.In 1774 Johann Peter was bornand baptized at Himmels Church. In 1778 Valentine waslisted asa taxable of MahanoyTownship, in1781 he was taxed on 100 acres of land and 1 horse, in 1785 was taxed on 170 acres and 1 horse, in 1786 was a Northumberland County official, in 1787 was taxed on 170 acres and 1 horse,and in 1789 wasa supervisor of Mahanoy Township. OnMay 19, 1802, letters of administration were granted to sons Michaeland Adam with LeonardReitz and GeorgeBrosius Surities in Northumberland County Courthouse.
