About Johann "Valentine" Uhler
Valentine Uhler arrived in Philadelphia on October 8, 1737 on the ship "Charming Nancy", sailing from Rotterdam, Holland. He came from the Palatinate, Rhine River, Germany. He gave allegiance to the English Crown by oath.
In 1762, he bought 344 acres of land on the north side of the Lehigh River, including two adjaceent islands in the river containing 12 and 16 acres, for 450 pounds, near the Chain Dam (upstream from Hugh Moore Park, Lehigh Canal). He died in January 1768 after a married life of 26 years. He and Maria had five children.
