Vernon J. Troyer 76, of 2855 S.R. 93 Sugarcreek, died Monday April 14, 2008 in Aultman Hospital at Canton. Born August 19, 1931 in Holmes County he was a son of the late John J. and Ada (Hostetler) Troyer. He was a retired farmer and was ordained a minister in the New Order Amish Church in 1963. He is survived by his wife the former Fannie Troyer whom he married December 15, 1955. Also surviving are 6 sons and 2 daughters Bruce (Jane) Troyer of Sarasota, Fla., Larry (Marlene) Troyer of Gambier, Willis (Marilyn) Troyer of Sarasota, Fla., Delon (Liz) Troyer of Sugarcreek, Lyle (Ruthann) Troyer of Gambier, Arlen (Rhoda) Troyer of Berlin, Arvada (Dan) Yoder of Sugarcreek and Marneta (Craig) Saltzman of Sugarcreek; 3 brothers Jonas Troyer and Aden Troyer both of Sugarcreek and Norman Troyer of Winesburg; 2 sisters Mary (Wayne) Miller and Viola (Jake) Weaver both of Sugarcreek; 1 sister in law Amanda Troyer of Berlin and 25 grandchildren that were very special to him. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother Marvin Troyer. Funeral services will be held Thursday April 17, 2008 at 9:00 AM in the Maranatha Fellowship Church at 941 S.R. 93 Sugarcreek. Bishop Menno Miller will officiate and burial will follow in Yoder Cemetery in Sugarcreek Township Tuscarawas County. Friends may call at the Maranatha Fellowship Church on Tuesday from 6 to 8 PM and Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM. Smith Funeral Home in Sugarcreek is handling the arrangements.
Surviving are his wife, the former Fannie Troyer, whom he married Dec. 15, 1955; children, Bruce (Jane) Troyer of Sarasota. Fla., Larry (Marlene) Troyer of Gambier, Willis (Marilyn) Troyer of Sarasota, Fla., Delon (Liz) Troyer of Sugarcreek, Lyle (Ruthann) Troyer of Gambier, Arlen (Rhoda) Troyer of Berlin, Arvada (Dan) Yoder and Marneta (Craig) Saltzman, both of Sugarcreek; 25 grandchildren, who were very special to him; brothers, Johas and Aden Troyer, both of Sugarcreek and Norman Troyer of Winesburg; sisters, Mary (Wayne) Miller and Viola (Jake) Weaver, both of Sugarcreek; and a sister-in-law, Amanda Troyer of Berlin.
