Veronica Hirsch

When she died in Reimitz, Moravia [now Rymice, Czech Rep.] on 29 November 1849, her death record refers to her as "Veroni Hirsch, widow of Weisskirchen familianten Jakob Hirsch, age 71". She was actually 72 at the time of her death.

Her gravestone in Holesov is still standing – “Debora Hirsch (Ha-Levi), wife of Jakob from Reimitz, died November 30, 1849 – Deborah / Veronika, wife of Yaakov Hersch Segal from Reimitz where she died. Her husband ‘left her’ [died] when they had only been together a short time, and she then raised her children herself.”
