Viola Hayes, 95, residing with her daughter and son-in-law, at 3725 Schroeder Dr. , Manitowoc, died Saturday morning, December 7, 1991 at the residence. Funeral services will be Tuesday, December 10, 1991, 9:30 a.m. at Pfeffer Funeral Home and 10:00 a.m. at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Presiding at the Mass of Christian Burial is Rev. Roman Zbieranski O.F.M. and burial to follow at the Calvary Cemetery, Manitowoc. She was born April 6, 1896 in Antigo, Wis. she is the daughter of the late George and Rose Gallagher Bonnell. She married Angus Hayes on June 30, 1925 in Antigo, Wis. He preceded her in death September 23, 1972. She is a former member of the St. Mary’s Rosary and Altar Society and a member of the Manitowoc Women’s club.

Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Rosemary and Robert Mueller of Manitowoc; one brother and sister-in-law, Clinton and Marge Bonnell, Antigo, Wis.; one daughter-in-law, Betty Hayes of Waukesha, Wis.; ten grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren. One sister-in-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by one son, Robert, two brothers and three sisters.

Friends may call at the Pfeffer Funeral Home from 8:30 a.m. Tuesday until the time of service. There will be no Monday evening visitation. Manitowoc Herald Times - Monday, Dec. 9, 1991 - page B8

In the 1910 census there is a Kate V. or U ( probably V.) With the same age as Viola would be. Perhaps her given name is Kate Viola Bonnell, she was always known as Viola, in the Census 1900 she is age 4 and 1910 Census she is age 14 census. In 1920 she was single working in a factory. Sept 2020 left Aunt Carol a question, Is Katie V. also known as Katie Viola or Viola? The dates in the census in the source tab, (below) match the dates on the grave marker Of Viola Bonnell Hayes.
