About Walter NEWMAN
On 16 October 1735, Walter Newman Jr. purchased 234 acres of land in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, in two adjoining tracts, from John, Richard, and Thomas Penn for L36, 5 Shillings, & 4 Pence. The land was surveyed and leased, and was called Newburry (now called Newmanstown). Records show that Walter's children leased some of the land and after his death, some of his sons sold their land and moved to Virginia and Ohio.
