About Wendy Wilken
Wendy Wilken (1951 - 2011)
Brief overview:
Wendy (60), was executed, one shot to her head, on 21st March 2011. She and her husband (Mario) owners of 'The Koi Farm' in Walkerville, Gauteng, for 15 years, were attacked at 09h00 that morning. Three armed attackers entered the homestead and forced the Wilkens couple into the pantry.
They demanded cash and were ordered to open the safe. Finding no money, the attackers dragged Wendy from the pantry, and Mario heard a gun shot. The attackers fled without taking anything. When Mario pushed open the door he found his wife lying in a puddle of blood in the hallway.
Mario offered a reward of R50 000 for information leading to the successful arrest and conviction of the men.

- This was the second armed-attack against their smallholding in the past three years. Other smallholders also suffer regular attacks: Shortly after Mrs Wilken’s murder, neighbour Brain Ubsdell came to offer his condolences. He said he was attacked two years earlier and tied up and tortured with a hot iron. “My neighbours also were robbed and another one was murdered last year".
