About Wilhelm / Vilem Langer
Birth record: 1547 PLZEŇ (o. Plzeň) N 1901-1915 (i v letech 1908-1915 pro každý rok) (233/241)Willi was a good friend of my parents,Paul and Mimi Torsh and he and his wife Valli lived near us in Sydney at Castlecrag. We were in Cammeray. Willi spoke four languages according to the Arolsen records, Czech, German, French and English. His tstimony in those records shows the Nazis took his factory and he decided to leave Czecholsovakia.I think they built their own house and designed it in Castlecrag. Willi was deported to Terezin in 1942 then to Auschwitz the next year and Schwarzheide in Germany the next year. It was a sub camp of Sachsenhausen where they mined coal. He returned to Terezin in 1945 and with his wife and daughter left Czechoslovakia for Australia sponsored by American JOINT. They converted to Lutheran in 1947. They flew to Darwin from Rome. Willi died in Sydney in 1963.
