Wilhelmina (86), a pensioner living in Heathfield, Cape Town, was tied up, with a telephone cord, and strangled to death, in her home on 7th March 2006. Doug Newman, son-in-law, found her body around 20h15 in the passage way of her home.

"I tried the remove the scarf around her neck, but it was too tight. She was ice cold," said Newman. He said she had blood and bruises on her face.
