About Willem Loban

Willem came as part of the military in 1600 from Scotland to Holland. He was, as an officer in the 2nd Company of the Regiment Colonel David Colyear, stationed at Bergen op Zoom.He was recruited with 300 men to support the Protestants in Holland in their revolt against Spain (David Colyear seems to be later. at the siege of Bergen op Zoom in 1622 is was een regiment Schotten onder commando van sir Robert Henderson).

The name Loban or Lobban comes from the Moray province in Scotland, along the Moray Firth to the Black Isle ;

This name appears in Scotland are also now common in the near Aberdeen , where they are predominantly wealthy farmers.

His descent from Scotland seems to be also supported by Y-DNA research [https://lobban.one-name.net/?page_id=359].

For more general background of the Scottish Loban family see also [https://lobban.one-name.net/?page_id=2] and [Willem Loban] specifically about William: page 41.

Originally from Forres, Morayshire, Scotland. In military service. Came to Zeeland in 2d company of regiment of colonel David Colyer. Was stationed at Bergen op Zoom. Recruited as part of 300 men to support the protestants in the Netherlands in their revolt against Spain.

https://hugepdf.com/download/laban-postpage_pdf This explanation of 'Laban' an important bible-figure may be plausible but this is still quessing and 'making' it fit
And whois this then ? https://www.openarch.nl/search.php?name=Jacob+Loban (his brother? and is there an unexpected father maybe in Bergen op Zoom, if there's a brother, who may be born there? And why exists a Jacob called Loban in stead of Laban ???!
Nothing is further known about William who ofcourse is never named 'Willem' in Scotland. So who are his parents, and do we know where he is coming from precisely??
https://www.openarch.nl/search.php?name=Jacob+Loban Here are more soldier references found , so he may be family or even be the father of William??!
