" William Alexander was born in North Scotland around ? ;married Betsy King 1771, came to Randolph County N.C. with other members of his father's family in 1774. Their children were William, Stephen K., Thomas, Jane and George. Capt William Alexander was commissioned in 1781. Stephen was the ancestor of Mary Louise's branch we must assume that our branch descended from William or Thomas or George (born 7/5/1769) m- Jane Sharp, son of Capt. Wm Alexander.
Tenn archives notes: "b 7-30-1739 married Elizabeth King in1762 in PA, came to Salisbury District, N.C."
