WILLIAM ASHBY TO BE HONORED AT OPEN HOUSE

Open house will be held Tuesday, April 7, in honor of William H. Ashby at his home, 640 Washington, betwenn the hours of three and eight p.m. The occasion is his seventy-fifth birthday anniversary. Friends and relatives are invited to call.

Mr. Ashby was born in Salt Lake City, April 7, 1867, the oldest of 11 children. He moved to Holden with his family when he was five years old and lived there many years. He married Martha Ann Stevens. After her death he fulfilled a mission for the LDS church in the southern states. He married Melissa Coleman August 28, 1895.

He is the father of 10 sons and daughter: Mrs. Jalmer Nelson, Mrs. Stewart Anderson of Ogden; Mrs. Amos Taylor, Harrisville; Mrs. Henry Christensen of Syracuse; Mrs. Ed Bennett of Holden, Utah; Mrs. Clifford Gutting, California; Clinton Ashby of Sparks, Nevada; Arthur Ashby, Burley, Idaho; Alfred Ashby, San Carlos. California; Warren Ashby, Keyport, Washington. He also has 32 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Mr. Ashby has engaged mainly during his life in farming and carpentering.

WILLIAM H. ASHBY TAKEN BY DEATH

William Harden Ashby, 76, well-known resident of Ogden, died at Tacoma, Washington, early today following a two-month illness, according to telegram received by a daughter, Mrs. Amos M. Taylor of Harrisville.

Mr. Ashby was born in Salt Lake City, April 7, 1867, the son of Willism H. and Nancy Badger Ashby. His wife, Melissa Coleman Ashby, died in Ogden November 25, 1942. He resided in Ogden for many years, and was a member of the LDS Eighth Ward. After the death of Mrs. Ashby, he moved to Tacoma which has since been his home. Was engaged in farming and carpentering.

Survivors include the following sons and daughters: Mrs. Edward Bennett of Holden, Mrs. Henry Christensen of Syracuse; Clinton L. Ashby of Sparks, Nevada; Mrs. Amos M. Taylor of Harrisville, Arthur J. Ashby of San Carlos, California; Warren L. Ashby of Teeport, Washington; Mrs. Stewart Anderson of Ogden; Mrs. Clifford Gutting of Tacoma, Washington and Mrs. Hilmer Nelson of Ogden; also 34 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and the following brothers and sisters: Robert L. Ashby of American Fork; Rodney Ashby and Nathanial Ashby of Lemington, Utah; Mrs. John Wood, Mrs. Sim Stevenson, Mrs. Marian Stephenson and Mrs. John Stephenson Austin Ashby and Mrs. J. Charles Bennett, all of Holden.

Funeral announcements will be made by Lindquist & Sons.

Services for William H. Ashby

Services for William H. Ashby, 76, long-time Ogden resident who moved to Tacoma, Washington, nearly a year ago, will be conducted Monday at twelve-thirty p.m. in Lindquist & Sons Colonial Funeral Chapel, Ogden, by Frank L. Allen, bishop of Ogden LDS Eighth Ward. Burial will be in Ogden City Cemetery.

Friends may call at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Anna M. Taylor, in Harrisville, Sunday afternoon and evening and Monday until ten-thirty a.m. and at the mortuary until time of services.

Mr. Ashby died Wednesday in Tacoma, Washington. His body will arrive in Ogden Saturday night.
