GEDCOM Note

Category:Clan Chattan
Scottish Clans tartan = Clan Tartans-113.jpg William Bean/MacBayne is the son of Donald MacBayne and Margaret McGillis of Scotland. His brother, John was brought to the Americas aboarda prison ship, after being held a prisoner for two years, following the Battle of Worcestor. It is possible, and highly likely, that William arrived in America, in the same manner. William became the Constable for the district of Cherry Point, Northumberland, County, Virginia. He married Margaret (?nee) Bean, who survived him and administered his Will. His grandchildren lived first in Northumberland County, and in Lancaster County, which bordered Northumberland on the south. Others moved to Augusta County and Lunenberg County. Four generations of the descendants of this William Bean of the Clan MacBean are traced in the Kraus-Everette Genealogy <ref> http://www.larkcom.us/ancestry/history/bean.cfm </ref> "Our Bean family line originates with William Bean, of the Clan MacBean, who was born about 1635 in Inverness Shire, Scotland. This historytraces this Bean line four generations to Elizabeth (Bean) Russell, wife of George Russell, born in 1723 in Northumberland County, Virginia. The Beans and Russells were well established in Pittsylvania County,Virginia in the mid-1700's. There were many intermarriages and the families migrated together to colonize what later became Blount County, Tennessee." <ref> For a history of Blount County, see also: http://www.larkcom.us/ancestry/misc/tn_blount_co.cfm </ref>
