- Baptism date from the register at Renhold. Godfather was St Alexander St. John.
- William Becher, son of Sir William Becher attended Peterhouse, Cambridge in 1626 [age 17] giving him a birthdate of 1609. His records say that he is the son of Sir William Becher of Fotheringhay. He apparently attended Eton prior to University. MA from St. Johns 1633, BD 1647.
- William married Dorothy Bletloe in 1638 and the couple had at least 4 children [known from family wills only]; St John Becher, Anthony Becher, Ann Becher and Katherine Becher.
- The will of his father Sir William Becher will dated 1 Nov 1640 proved 2 April 1641 By Elizabeth Becher, executrix named, PCC; To son William 40s
- Edward Becher of Fotheringhay his Uncle calls him William Becher of Woodford, Clerk [son of my brother William] & leaves him £100 on 18 March 1655/6. "item by this will I doe give and bequeath to my nephew William Becher of Woodford in the county of Northton Cleark the sonne of my brother Sir William Becher aforesaid the full some of one hundred pounds of lawful money of England."
- the will of his Godfather Sir Alexander St John will 1657 I also give to my nephew William Becher my Godson 30 pounds. to my nephew Francis Becher [b. 1614] of 20 pounds to my nephew Henry Becher [b. 1602] of 20 pounds.
- By 1666 his brother Francis Becher in his will describes him as deceased.
- There is an entry in the clerics database for Gulieumus Becher (1637-1637), son of William Becher of Wadhurst, Sussex. Matriculated Magdalen, Oxford 28.6.1633 aged 17. BA 30.10.1635, MA st Edmund Hall 26.5.1638. Rector of Woodford, Northants 1638 & Isfield 5.6.1639. However, neither the age, matriculation date nor the father match, so it seems likely that two different William Becher have been accidentally merged together.
