About William Hugh Berners
William Hugh Berners was the son of Major William Berners 1797-1855 & Elizabeth Jane Berners(Paget) 1808-1866. He was a brewer of beer & ale & his family haled from the Netherlands. He married Edith Katherine
Townsend in Brighton on August 16 1866. They had a daughter Mabel Elizabeth Jane Dalrymple Berners, born in Blackheath, Kent & she married Samuel G Thacker or Samuel John Thacker? In 1871 William Hugh Berners was the head of his family in Shrapnel Park, Byfleet, Surrey. In 1891 he was the head of of his household in Portlemouth, Devon. In 1901 he was in Corsham ,Wiltshire with his wife Edith & two servants Emily ,cook born in Perramwell, Cornwall & Rhoda Latchem (17) & he was Living on his own means. In 1911 He was in Hove Sussex, England. In 1929 he died in Hampshire. Apparently, he was very keen on breeding dogs as a hobby.
