William BROUGHTON was born November 1768 (son of Henry BROUGHTON and Sarah WALKER). He was baptised November 1768 Chatham, UK
William travelled to Australia as a free settler, arriving in Sydney Cove on 26/1/1788 on "Charlotte"
William married/had a relationship with Ann GLOSSOP (aka Elizabeth HEATHORN) c1793 and they had the following children

After Ann's death in 1809, William married Elizabeth Charlotte "Eliza" KENNEDY on 4/12/1810 at Parramatta and they had the following children

William died 22/7/1821 at Appin, NSW
William Broughton was a cabin boy on the first fleet. He had several children with the convict, Elizabeth Heathorn, and after she left for England, married Elizabeth Broughton.
Arrived as servant, free in the first fleet, aiding the ship's surgeon White. His uncle, a RN captain in England, sent the twenty year old on the Charlotte. Became deputy commissary of government stores for Macquarie, he served in Norfolk Island until that garrison closed temporarily. Was the common law husband to Elizabeth Heathorn aka Anne Glossop, transported for seven years for cloth stealing. When Elizabeth was lost on the Boyd massacre, he later married Elizabeth Charlotte Simpson nee Kennedy, owned a grant at Appin, 1,000 acres and Elizabeth 300. Appin, his Lachlan Vale property was the site of the Appin Massacre when troops shot natives at the direction of Macquarie.
