My grandfather [John Campbell] was a religious man. He was a Freemason when he came here. His children were James, John, Mary, Sallie, William, Francis, my father; Elijah, Isaac, Stephen, Hiram, Samuel, and Bitsy (Betsy), 12 in all. William, his brother, settled at the mouth of Campbell's Creek. His children were: Charles, William, Elijah, Hanes, Henry, Daniel, Margaret, and Amy.

I'm looking for specific information regarding William Campbell (possible first name John, but is confused with a brother named John as well) and Nancy Ann (Polly) Couch. William was born 1755 in an Irish Settlement in North Carolina. According to some recrods he was the Constable in District #4 in Floyd County, KY (11/17/1817). He was also the Justice of the Peace in Floyd County. William died in 1859 at the Mouth of Campbell's Creek (now Krypton) in Perry County, KY. Family Records indicate he was the son of Patrick C Campbell Jr. (1726-1799) and Elizabeth James (d 1820).
Nancy Ann (Polly) Couch was born in 1764 in Vadkin Valley, Ashe County, (now known as ) North Carolina. She died in1851 in Perry County, KY. She was the daughter of John Couch (1750-1836) and Mary Boone (1746-1781). Nancy married William in 1788 in Ashe County, NC. They had 15 children. Nancy Ann is listed in the 1850 Perry County census.
There is possibly a granddaughter named Phoebe Campbell-Noble that stated in 1898 that William and Nancy came from the Virginia direction to the Perry County area. She said that William left the family and went to Indiana. He never returned. Any information on any of these folks would be helpful. We are looking to establish a solid link between William Campbell and Patrick C. Campbell, Jr.
