Biography

William Carr was born circa 1680 in Spotsylvania, Virginia. His parents were Col. Thomas Carr of Topping Castle and Mary Lucy Carr.

William married unknown Chiles in 1698 in Spotsylvania, Spotsylvania, Virginia, United States. Together they had the following children:

William married Catherine Carr in 1704 in New Kent,,Virginia,USA. Together they had the following children:

William married Elizabeth Carr.

He died in 1760 in Spotsylvania County, VA, United States.

Captain William Carr was the son of Thomas Carr and an unknown mother.[1] He was probably born in King William County, Colony of Virginia, in about 1680.

He is said to have married first (___) Chiles, and second Susannah Brooks.[1]

William made his will on 2 August 1760, in Spotsylvania County, Virginia, and died before 4 November 1760 when his will was proved in Spotsylvania County.[2]

In the will, he names his wife Susannah (___), who was one of the Executors and received the land William purchased from Thomas Ship and John Quarles. In addition, he names the following children:[1][2]

  3. Ann (received land adjoining Nicholas Crenshaw)
  4. Elizabeth
  5. Phoebe (or Phebe)

It is unclear which of these children are the children of Susannah and which are children of his first marriage to (___) Chiles.

Susannah reportedly died in 1792. Some researchers give a location of Spotsylvania, Virginia; others say it was in Fayette County, Kentucky.[citation needed]

William Carr deceased, will 2, Aug 1760. Widow and issue: William, Sarah Ann, Elizabeth, Charles, Agnes, Walter, Phoebe, and Thomas. Testor and his brothers and sisters were the children of the eldest sister of Walter Chiles who died intestate.
