About William Child

William Child was born May 14 1768 in Waltham Massachusetts son of Abijah and Beulah (Harrington) Child. He moved to Maine with the family of David Marshall from Massachusetts in 1771 and settled in what was then called Sudbury Canada now Bethel Maine.

Attacked by Indians the inhabitants were compelled to flee. They moved to Minot Maine around 1789 with Eliab Washburn and William’s brothers Ephraim and Daniel.  William married Anna Washburn around 1790.  They then moved to Livermore Maine and settled on a farm. He married Jun 19 1791 in Livermore Maine Anna Washburn daughter of Eliab and Anne Washburn. They had 10 children. William died 1819 in West Peru and was buried in Livermore Maine.
