NAME: Spelled various ways. Crohorn, Croggin, Crochran etc. After 1850 Croghan. In a land deed made by William and his wife selling her share of Davis Land on 27 April, 1812 on LDS Film #0869814, Deed Book 5, page 62 it has the name as Crohorn. On 1850 census for Adam Twp., Coshocton Co. Oh, page 316, it is Croggin. also says he born in PA. On his son John's marriage record the name is given as Crochran. In Land record filed 11 May 1822 in Brooke Co. VA, the name is Creighton. LDS Film #869815, Deed Book 7, page 16
DEATH/BUR: In 1845 they in Belmont Co Ohio. (See below.) But on 1850 Census they were in Coshocton Co. Ohio. In 1860 his wife is living with their son John In Tuscarawas but her name is given as Mary. Assorted West Virginia Records; FHL film 848629; Last item on role lists 3 Springs (Presbyterian), Wierton Heights Virginia. Buried Grohan, William; Nov. 17 1859 (11/17/59). Age 79
Marriage: In a copy of a newspaper article found on page 433 of "Caldwells History of Belmont and Jefferson Counties Ohio" Jemima says she was married in 1805. However in a deed found in book 4, page 259, 17 March 1809, Brooke County Virginia she is not listed as married. By the time of the deed cited in Book 5 above, she is married.
In Carroll County Ohio Land Records, Vol., Page 143 a deed dated 14 ? 1845, William and Jemima of Belmont County Ohio sell land. I have found no records of them in Belmont County.
