Family Bible Record of William Lemay;(He Fathered sixteen children) William Lemay was born April 19, 1811 to Lewis Allen Lemay and Lucy Mary Essery (Ussery?) He was united in Marriage to Anna Essary, Sept,29, 1831. Anna Essary was born May 14,1813. They had a home on Hurricane Creek near the Alabama Border. They left Tennessee in a hurry because they were told if they did not leave their house would be burned and they would be killed. They were not sympathetic to the southern cause. They loaded up what they could on their wagons and headed for Illinois in the middle of the night. When they reached Illinois their shoes were worn and their feet were wrapped in burlap.
