Death of Mr. Wm, Fitz Gerald. Another well-known face has past from our midst. We allude to Mr. William FitzGerald, who breathed his last at his residence in Hill - Street on Saturday evening, at the early age of 34. The deceased was the eldest son of the Controller and Auditor-General (Mr. J. E. FitzGerald), and was a native of New Zealand, having been born we believe.in Christchurch. On leaving College he became secretary to the Chief Justice (Sir G. Arney), and resided in Auckland for several years. He then went into the office of the late Hon. Mr. Brandon, subsequently, after admission as a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court, commencing practice on his own account. In April, 1882, he entered into partnership with Mr. Martin Chapman, and the connection remained unbroken until his death. Mr. FitzGerald suffered from ill-health for several years before his death, and at times his sufferings were intense. About a month ago, he caught a chill while witnessing a football match at Newtown, and was obliged to take to his bed. Bright's disease took a firm hold of him, and he gradually sank, expiring about 6 o'clock on Saturday evening. Deceased took a deep interest in aquatics. He was one of the founders of the Tainui Canoe Club, and for two or three years prior to his demise he was captain of the Star Boating Club. He also occupied the position of Vice-President of the Athletic Football Club. For some years he represented Thorndon Ward in the City Council, and would have put up for re-election but for ill health. Deceased was a gentleman of marked ability, and had he lived would probably have attained a high rank in his profession. Ho was a man of a very amiable disposition, and one whose death will be sincerely regretted by all who knew him. He was married twice. His first wife was a sister-in-law of Colonel Gorton, his second being Miss Frances Featherston, fourth daughter of the late Dr. Featherston. Mrs. FitzGerald is left with tree young children to mourn her loss,
