(*4025.) Gould. I would greatly appreciate information regarding the ancestry of William Gould, who lived in Rhode Island somewhere about 1750. I do not know whom he married, but do know that his children were: William, born July 17, 1770; Adam, born Aug. 8, 1776; Joel, born July 15, 1797; Anna, born July 10, 1806; and John and Dorcas, whose birthdays are unknown to me. William, Jr., married Helen Knickerbocker, who was born May 1, 1771; Adam married Judith Coffin, who was born in Nantucket, June 5, 1775. Sometime before 1794 William, Sr., moved from Rhode Island to Dutchess County, N. Y. He probably died there, but the daye of his death is unknown to me. A. B. G.

(*4500.) Gould. The reference of L. R. F. to the Russels of Dutchess and Tioga counties of New York State has aroused the hope that he may have some data that will help me. I am trying to learn something about William Gould, Sr., who lived at one time in Dutchess County. I know nothing about him except that he had sons: William, Jr., Adam, Joel, John, and Wilbur. William, Jr., married Helen Knickerbocker about 1790 or 1791. They were both born in Dutchess County; William on July 17, 1770, and his wife on May 1, 1771. Adam was born Aug. 8, 1776, and on Sept. 6, 1796, married Judith Coffin of Nantucket, the date of her birth being June 5, 1775.
The children of William, Sr., moved from Dutchess to Saratoga County, New York. The children of William, Jr., were born at Half Moon, and those of Adam at Malta, both in the latter county.
These families afterwards moved to Tioga County, N. Y., and Bradford County, Pa., in 1823. Many of their descendants still live there. One of these is Lydia [sic] Gould, who married Samuel D. Russel. She is a daughter of Daniel Gould and Mary Ann Wright, and Daniel was a son of the William, Jr., above referred to.
Is there anything in your filed that relates to the ancestry of these Goulds? It is supposed that William, Sr., came from Rhode Island. It may be that at one time he lived in Windham County, Conn., judging from the fact that the name Windham was given to the township of Bradford County, Pa., where his descendants settled.
